Announcement, May 15, 2011 - United States Enforces
New Emissions Standards for Gasoline Powered Vessels.

New Emission standards from the United States Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) will take effect on July 31, 2011. This will affect gasoline
powered vessels imported into the U.S.
Manufacturers will have to comply with new
fuel system designs with integrated components
(canisters, fills, vents and valves) such as those available
from PerkoFuelSystems.com.
Included in the regulations is a transition program which allows manufacturers
a phased-in period to produce exempted vessels.
In order to participate in this program you must send EPA written notification
by July 31, 2011.

Perko and E & P Marine Present Top Distributor Award at METS

US marine equipment manufacturer Perko and manufacturer's representative
E&P Marine Inc awarded Brazilian distributor Regatta with Perko's
first ever Top Distributor award at METS this week in Amsterdam.
The presentation took place on Tuesday at Perko's stand and celebrates
28 years of collaboration.
"We've been working with Regatta for almost 30 years," said
Perko's vice president of marketing George Bellwoar. "This is
the first time we've presented this award. We've never had good reason
to before. It's very rare for us to do something like this."
Perko manufactures a wide range of marine equipment from deck hardware
to navigation lights at its Miami facility.
"Some distributors struggle to carry a broad selection of Perko
products, but Regatta carries a wide range. We're proud to have them
as a distributor."
Regatta founder Paulo Veloso began the company with his business partner
28 years ago. The distributor has 10 retail stores - with plans for
two more to open next year - and supplies both the boatbuilder and
end user, even selling boats.
"We've really seen the Brazilian marine industry develop," said
Veloso. "The boom in Brazil is not as profound as everyone says
it is, but compared with the crash felt in other countries then Brazil
is doing very well. After a dip in 2009 we're already back up to 2008
levels, which was a fantastic year."
Vice president of E&P Marine Miguel Vasallo has seen an increase
in the number of American companies looking to export since the crisis.
"We used to only represent US manufacturers in the Caribbean
and in South America, but two years ago our representation went worldwide," says
Vasallo. "The Pacific Ring is doing well, Australia in particular,
and the Middle East is still very interesting."
